Anzac - Kings Park

On a night's drive
going over the Narrows Bridge
past rough corrugated iron, construction.
When you look up in passing
high atop King's Park suffused in light.

The Memorial pinnacle reaches up to the skyline
tall trees with names on plaques line avenues.
Men & Women, who made the ultimate sacrifice
for a Nations freedom; if they sailed travelled
time they would know.

The bugle blows
early on Anzac morning - and the guns roar
as old comrades honour fallen mates;
eyes mist, tears fall, in reminiscence – respect.
And on this day each year a younger generation
remember the dead - will never forget their sacrifice.
