Desires of Awareness

Red-brown autumn
leaves twist in death
their anguish silent

fall upon the ground
where feet would trample
spread like ashes
upon the world.

Listen to the music
of an ocean
a sound which rises from its belly;
desolate, and awe, duality:
a longing mind desires empathy.

Walk among the lonely
those you would not
wish to know: exiles of acceptance,

builders of the
palaces of sadness.

Comments: Empathy seems to be a rare commodity in the world today.
Of course, I don't how common it ever was, for that matter, but it's certainly conspicuous by its absence nowadays.

This is deeper than you've gone lately, and comes across better.
