Word

The word has deserted me today,

Its off doing its own thing whilst I sit

on the edge of its playground

calling it back to come play with me,

momentarily a word returns but,

Its not the word, the one I know,

the one that sends me spiraling off

In unexplored directions,

this was tired, overused and

a waste of paper and ink,

I leave it to die unbidden in a rolled up ball

for fear that it may try to fool another.
