BLUEY

The crab, disturbed
extends his claws widely
advertising his naked aggression

A blue and white warning flash
of pincers.

One thrust and
the silvered prong
enters his shell
between the inhuman
eyes

His whole robotic armoury
goes limp
instantly

I extricate the exquisite azure iridescent carapace
from my spear.
A marine-mottled calcified memory of deeper waters.

Later, he gives a final spasm
The shell transmogrifies
a fiery orange
as it hits the boiling water in the copper

The clear jelly flesh turns to white
The prehistoric marine hunter
transformed to an
entrée.

Comments: I would say "to" after transmogrifies and "is" after hunter.
Nice job on this one, although I am not enough up on crabs to get the point of the title.

Comments: I don't know a lot about poetry, but I've been a fisher all my life.
This person kows about crabs.
The wavy colour on the back Does look like deeper waters.. The way the shell goes hot orange when it hits the water..
the robot metaphor.. and the grim sadness of the hunter when(s)he sees the primal creature become mere "seafood"...
I think this poem is the essence of a short story. Brilliant!!
