Prisoners Of Fortune

Buildings so secure
Conscious of all who walk near
Opulent furniture
Jealously guarded

The hands reach out
To caress the diamonds
Cold, aloof, sad

A fleeting look of longing
Of the minions and their laughter
A scowl to cover it up

Appearences are everything
Nothing else matters
The BMW parked just right
The gold inlay,
polished to perfection
Friendships made, on a bank balance
No warmth to be had...

Comments: Right on, Ed. The more you have to conserve, the more conservative you become...
Reminds me of when i worked in an affluent suburb for a while. The more opulent the house, the thicker the bars on the windows..
